Description
Sky-blue cylinders of turquoise and round, glossy garnet beads take turns all the way around this 48 cm strand: one tube, one sphere, then again. The idea of the piece is that strict alternation of two opposite stones and two bead shapes, a cool flat-ended tube beside a dark polished ball, so the color moves around the neck in an even beat. That rhythm, rather than a pendant, is what makes it a designer necklace, and it sets this turquoise beaded necklace apart from strands built on a single stone.
The turquoise is natural. Its tubes are a bright, even blue with thin brown veins running through some of them, and because that pattern comes from the stone itself, it differs from bead to bead and will not repeat on your necklace exactly as on the photos. This is a real turquoise necklace, strung with the mineral itself rather than a look-alike stone.
The garnet is natural as well, cut into smooth round beads of a deep wine red. Next to the turquoise it looks darker than it is, almost black at arm’s length, and shows its red up close and in daylight. As a garnet bead necklace it brings weight and shine to the matte blue of the tubes.
Turquoise is one of the December birthstones and garnet is the stone of January, so this is a December birthstone necklace and a January birthstone necklace in one. It suits a birthday that falls at the turn of the year, or a gift for her when a wife, girlfriend or mother was born in either month.
At 48 cm, about 18.9 inches, it sits a little below the collarbone. On the model it fills the opening of a white shirt worn with the collar undone, and it frames a V neck dress in the same way. The beads are of medium size, so the necklace reads as a statement necklace through its color contrast rather than through bulk, and at 59.9 grams it stays easy to wear through a whole day, with linen, white cotton or a loose boho look.
We make this necklace in our workshop in Türkiye, matching blue tubes and red rounds into one continuous line of natural gemstones.
Made by hand for you, just like the piece in the photos: the same design, metal, stones and weight. An uncut stone, baroque pearl or coral branch is matched by weight, so its shape is its own. Details →
