The people and workshops behind Magic Stones
Nargiz started this studio in 2012, and she designs most of what we make — now and then working a piece at the bench herself. Serkan, our master jeweler, makes the greater part of the collection, with a team of jewelers alongside him at our own benches in Türkiye. We work in small batches, with stones chosen one at a time, and the making never leaves the workshops we run ourselves.
Made by hand in our own workshops, a few pieces at a time
It began with a pomegranate.
Magic Stones began in 2012 with a run of pomegranate pendants set with rubies — many small parts held inside one tight shape, each of them earning its place. It was a good form to begin with.
There are several workshops now, a team of jewelers, and a collection that has grown well past that first run. A design starts with the form and the stone decided together: the stone is not chosen at the end to fill a setting. Some designs have stayed with us for years. Others were made a few times and stopped there. Both of those are on purpose.
The people behind the pieces
Two roles, one finished piece.
Design and making stay close to each other here. A drawing is tested at the bench, argued with, and adjusted until proportion, stone and setting agree — and the piece that comes out of that is the one you see in the photograph. Nargiz and Serkan hold the two ends of it, and a team of jewelers works with them at the bench.

Nargiz
Magic Stones is Nargiz’s studio. She started it in 2012 and designs most of what we make: the silhouette, the proportions, and which stone a piece is built around are her decisions. When a design asks for it, she makes it herself rather than handing it on — and she is the one who says whether a finished piece is right.
Master jeweler
Serkan
Serkan is our master jeweler, and most of the collection is made by his hands: forming, setting, and the exact small adjustments that decide whether a piece sits well or merely looks like it should. He designs pieces of his own from time to time, and those go into the collection like everything else. Bench work of that kind is the sort of thing you notice in a clasp, long before you can name it.
Behind the two of them is a team of jewelers, spread across workshops that we run ourselves. One of them is in Demre, on the Mediterranean coast, a few streets from the church of St. Nicholas; the others are in Izmir and Istanbul. Which bench a piece is made at depends on what that piece needs.
How it is made
From first sketch to final polish.
No two pieces take quite the same route through the workshop. A drawing comes first, then the form — and from there it depends on what is being made: many pieces are cast in silver or gold, others are built up and soldered at the bench. What follows is the same patient work either way: fitting, filing, sanding, polishing, and a last look before anything is packed. Some pieces take three hours. Some take a week.

Stage one · Building the piece
The form takes shape.
The design sets the silhouette and the proportions; materials and construction are decided together, and the metal is worked with whichever technique that particular piece calls for.

Nargiz draws the piece: silhouette, scale, and how the materials sit together.
Select
We choose the stones, the metal and the fittings for that specific design.
Shape and assemble
Serkan and the team cast the form in silver or gold, or raise, solder and assemble it at the bench, depending on the piece.
Stage two · Refining the details
The finish brings it into focus.
Once the structure and the setting are secure, the piece is refined by hand: filing, sanding and polishing sharpen the detail and bring up the final surface.
Fit and refine
Settings are closed by hand and everything is adjusted until the piece sits the way it should, balanced and secure.
Polish and inspect
The surfaces are brought up, and the piece gets a last look at the bench before it is packed.

If what you want is not in the collection — another stone, another metal, a size that is not listed — ask us about a custom piece. It is made at the same benches, by the same jewelers, and it goes through the same five steps as everything else.
Materials with character
No two stones speak in quite the same way.
We work with a wide palette: precious and semi-precious gemstones, pearls, coral and other materials chosen piece by piece, in many colors, cuts and textures. Key details on every product page name the metal and, where there is a stone, the stone itself; where a stone is an imitation rather than a gem — opalite, for example — the page says so. If a detail you need is not there, ask us before you order: we would rather explain it than have you guess.

Where a material varies naturally, its tone, veining or inclusions can differ a little from the photograph — that is the nature of the material, not a flaw in the piece. Ask us for more images before you order and we will send them.
The finished pieces
Jewelry with a point of view.
We make jewelry for people who want to see the hand in what they wear: a design that was drawn rather than assembled from a template, a stone with something to say, and finishing that holds up when you look closely. And we would rather you wore it than kept it in a box.
We work in small batches. Most designs are made a few examples at a time, and then we move on to the next one; some exist only once, and those are gathered in our one-of-one pieces. Even the designs we do repeat come out a little differently each time — hand work and the individual pattern of a stone see to that, so what arrives is close kin to the photograph rather than its twin. A few classic settings we make again and again, because they are worth repeating.
Rather than repeating one signature shape, we look for the right relationship between stone, proportion and setting. That is what gives the collection its range, and each piece an identity of its own.
