Product story

Description

A snake head hangs from each earring, built not as a solid shape but as an open frame of hexagonal cells, as if only the outlines of the scales were left. Every cell is rimmed with small colorless zircons in pavé, and the gaps between the cells stay open, so the head reads as bright geometry rather than a block of metal. Near the narrow lower end, two marquise-cut green stones set the eyes, and the snake looks downward as it hangs. This see-through head of scales is the design idea of the piece, and it is what makes these designer snake earrings.

Above the head, a single round zircon marks the joint, and an elongated top section, also covered in pavé, sits on the earlobe. The whole drop falls well below the lobe, so these are statement earrings: large and bright, the one piece meant to be noticed. They look strongest with hair worn up and a bare neckline, with nothing else competing for attention.

The stones are synthetic. The eyes are lab-created emerald, grown rather than mined, and the pavé and the round stone at the joint are synthetic zircon, a gem material of its own and not cubic zirconia. Under light, the stones show play of color across the scales.

We cast these drop earrings in 925 sterling silver and finish them by hand in our workshop in Türkiye. The silver is rose gold plated and polished, and the pair weighs about 14.5 grams.

A snake sheds its skin and grows a new one, which is why a snake on jewelry is often read as a sign of renewal. Emerald is the birthstone of May and zircon one of the stones of December, so these emerald drop earrings suit a birthday in either month. They are also an evening piece for prom, a gala or a dinner where one bold accent is enough.

Made by hand for you, just like the piece in the photos: the same design, metal, stones and weight. An uncut stone, baroque pearl or coral branch is matched by weight, so its shape is its own. Details →
