Silver branches with the grain of bark climb from the band of this multi gemstone ring and fork over the top of the finger. Four of the branches carry an oval stone at the tip: amethyst, citrine, sapphire and topaz, set at different heights and tilted at different angles. A fifth holds no stone at all and bends into an open loop beside the citrine. That uneven growth, more like a twig than a setting, is what makes this asymmetrical ring a designer piece and not a matched row of gems.

Below the stones it is a split shank ring: thin rods with a bark texture wrap around the finger and part into separate branches above it, and where they twist together at the back the band looks like a knot of wood. The textured ring is cast in 925 sterling silver and finished by hand in our workshop, with a polished surface over the relief, so the raised ridges catch the light and the grooves stay darker. It weighs about 8.5 grams.

All four gemstones of this 4 stone ring are natural and untreated, faceted as ovals and bezel set: a closed rim of smooth silver holds each stone and covers its edge, with no prongs to catch on knitwear. The amethyst is purple and the citrine golden yellow, while the sapphire and topaz give one deep blue and one pale mint stone, so this colorful ring puts four distinct colors on a single hand.

The stones also cover three birth months. Amethyst is the February birthstone, sapphire the September birthstone and citrine the November birthstone, which makes it a birthstone ring for a birthday in any of those months, or a gift that holds her own stone alongside three others.

With branches spreading across the finger and four colored stones raised above the band, it wears as a statement ring or a cocktail ring for an evening out, and it stays light enough for a day at work. Sizes run from US 3 to 11.5, including half sizes.
