A round blue chalcedony sits in gold plated claws on top of this ring, and a fine line of tiny synthetic zircons curves around it in a partial halo. The halo is left open on one side. There a textured gold plated sweep rises from the band and arcs over the edge of the stone, with the line of zircons running up beside it. Nothing on one half of the ring repeats the other, so this is an asymmetrical ring by design, a small sculptural ring rather than a stone in a symmetrical frame.

The ring is 925 sterling silver, oxidized and plated in black rhodium and gold. The band and the setting of the zircons are dark, while the sweep and the claws are gold, which makes it a two tone ring in black and gold with the light blue stone between them. As a mixed metal ring it sits as easily next to yellow gold jewelry as next to a black silver ring or plain silver bands.

The center stone is natural chalcedony, cut round and blue. The small colorless stones of the pavé line are synthetic zircon. Zircon is one of the December birthstones, so this silver ring with a blue stone also suits someone born in December, although the blue stone itself is chalcedony and not a birthstone.
